Advances in wireless Internet technology because of the influx in Internet-enabled smart phones and tablets have made mobile broadband a convenient and affordable option for consumers. Comcast Xfinity offers two wireless Internet plans for computer users who do not wish to be tied down to phone lines or wireless hubs: Nationwide and Nationwide Preferred.

Nationwide Performance

The Xfinity Internet 2go Nationwide plan offers 3G service wherever cell phone coverage is available. By plugging the Comcast broadband device into your computer's USB port, you will be able to receive download speeds up to 1.4 Mbps on the nationwide 3G network. Because 3G is the most common mobile network standard as of the time of publication, often times this will be the highest network available. Check Comcast coverage in your area before deciding which plan to purchase.

Nationwide Preferred Performance

The Xfinity Internet 2go Nationwide Preferred plan allows you to connect to 4G networks wherever available. At the time of publishing, 4G is a relatively new mobile broadband technology. While these networks offer download speeds up to 6 Mbps, 4G networks are not as prevalent as their 3G counterparts. The Nationwide Preferred plan will connect you to a 3G network in the event that a 4G network is unavailable.

Ordering and Usage

You must be a Business Class Internet customer or a Comcast High-Speed Internet customer to order Comcast's Internet 2go service. You will receive a free mobile device when you sign up for a 1- to 3-year commitment to the service. You can also purchase your plan on a month-to-month basis. In this case, you will need to purchase the mobile device separately but you can cancel your service at any time. The service is available to both PC and Mac users.

Pricing

At the time of publication, the Nationwide plans begin at $25 per month while the Nationwide Preferred plans begin at $40 per month. Special offers may be available for new customers. If you choose a month-to-month plan, the mobile device costs $125.
