Founded in 1994, Knology is a broadband telecommunications company that offers telephone, cable television and high-speed Internet services to residential and business customers across the Midwestern and Southern United States. Comcast is the largest telecommunications company in the country, delivering Internet, cable and telephone service to residential and business customers in 39 states.

Television Services

Knology offers cable service in several different packages, from basic access to local television stations to digital cable with all the premium channels. Knology offers packages with expanded cable, basic digital cable and digital cable plus -- which includes everything but the premium channels. High definition and digital video recording access are also available. Comcast offers a fiber-optic cable service called XFinity. It is available in packages with On Demand, remote DVR access and the option to watch shows recorded to the DVR on any television set in the house. 3-D television channels and On Demand options are included with any HD-inclusive package.

Internet Services

Knology's Internet services are available in a variety of download/upload speeds that range from 1 mbps/128 kbps to 25 mbps/5 mbps. They can be installed with your pre-existing cable modem or a Knology cable modem, and include a variety of features such as 10 mb of personal web space, remote email access and free, unlimited access to live sporting events on ESPN3. Comcast's XFinity service also comes with access to ESPN3, as well as high speed Internet access with download speeds up to 20 mbps. All Internet service packages include 2 MB of personal web space, up to 10 email accounts with 10 GB of storage apiece and Constant Guard, a suite of anti-virus and anti-identity theft utilities.

Phone Services

Two telephone plans are available from Knology. The local plan allows customers to make unlimited local calls and add on any other features they may need, such as remote-access voicemail and limited long distance calls. The unlimited long distance calling plan includes unlimited long distance calls. All plans include features such as caller ID, three-way calling and anonymous call rejection. With Comcast's XFinity telephone services, you can check your landline voice mail from your smartphone or computer. The range of plans that are available all include caller ID, call waiting and other features.

Customer Service

Knology's extensive customer service plan includes 24 hour tech support on the phone or via online chat, Twitter and email. Additionally, their website offers downloadable manuals for all of their products and services. Comcast's customer support guarantee includes a 30-day, money-back guarantee, an offer of a $20 account credit for service provider lateness and quick resolution of routine issues, and a promise to treat all customers with courtesy and respect.
