The cable installer dispatched to your home will install your Time Warner cable service so that the remote control works with the cable box or DVR. He may or may not program the remote to also control the volume and power settings on your TV, and you may need to do this yourself. The process for programming a Time Warner remote to a TV varies depending on your brand and model of television, but it's similar on most Sony TVs.
Step 1
Open your Web browser and visit Time Warner's "Program Your Remote" page.
Step 2
Click to select the type of remote control you own from the screen.
Step 3
Click "TV" from the "Select Device" drop-down menu.
Step 4
Click "Sony" in the "Select Brand" drop-down menu. The instructions for programming the remote will appear. Follow the on-screen directions. The steps will vary, depending on which type of remote you chose in Step 2.
