Digital Voice is Comcast's telephone service. Calls are made through Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), which means the transmission is through the Internet as opposed to a normal telephone line. This difference allows you to make unlimited calls, both in quantity and length, to any number in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico for a flat monthly rate. Setting up Comcast Digital Voice yourself is a simple process.

Step 1

Plug one end of a telephone cable into the phone port on the back of your Comcast modem, and plug the other end into the "Line" or "Wall In" port on the phone. Turn the phone on or pick up the receiver to confirm a dial tone.

Step 2

Press "*99" on the phone's keypad. A tutorial will begin to set up your voice mail.

Step 3

Follow the tutorial to record a voice mail greeting. End the call after you have added the greeting to complete the setup process.
