How to Use a Verizon Preferred Roaming List on Broadband

by Alexis Rohlin, Demand Media

Verizon broadband wireless modems have a Preferred Roaming List programmed into them. A Preferred Roaming List tells the modem what cellphone towers to look for while roaming or looking for a tower to connect to. This list includes cellphone towers from other network carriers that Verizon has a roaming agreement with. A roaming agreement is a contract that networks make with each other to permit clients from another cellphone company to access or use their cellphone towers.

Step 1

Open the "VZ Access Manager" program on your computer. Click the "Help" menu to open up the menu window.

Step 2

Click "About VZ Access Manager," then click the "Options" tab. Click "Activation" and "OK."

Step 3

Click the Windows icon in the lower-left corner of the screen to open the Start menu. Click on "Mobile Connection Manager." Select "Settings." Click "About" and select the "General" tab. Click "Run Activation Wizard." Your computer will automatically update your Preferred Roaming List.
