Comcast Versus Charter

Comcast offers three television packages with Xfinity TV. The starter package includes 80 channels plus On Demand movies and television. The Preferred package includes 160 channels plus Encore and sports channels. The Primer package includes 200 channels plus Cinimax, Starz, Showtime and a sports entertainment package. Charter offers various television service packages that vary by region. Customers can choose from high-definition channels, free On Demand videos, sports channels and premium channel packages that include Showtime, Cinemax and HBO.

Xfinity Internet service, offered through Comcast, is available in two different packages with two different speeds. The Performance package has Internet speeds up to 15 megabytes per second. The Blast package has Internet speeds up to 20 megabytes per second. Comcast also offers Xfinity Internet 2go, which is wireless Internet that uses a mobile broadband device attached to your computer. 3G and 4G speed packages are available. Charter offers five different Internet speeds to allow customers to pay for the speed that they need. Internet speeds range from one megabyte per second to 60 megabytes per second. These options allow customers to evaluate what they use the Internet for and purchase Internet speeds accordingly.

Two phone packages are available from Comcast. The Local with More package offers unlimited local calling and long-distance calling at a low rate per minute. Caller ID and other calling features are also included. The Unlimited package includes unlimited local and long-distance calling and other features such as voicemail and caller ID. As with its television services, Charter's telephone packages vary depending on your location and the features you choose. Each package includes free features such as voicemail, call waiting, caller ID and call forwarding.

Comcast has three Triple-Play bundles available for customers who purchase all three services from them. The Preferred bundle includes 160 television channels, high-speed Internet and unlimited calling. The Preferred Plus bundle includes 170 channels, faster Internet and unlimited calling. The Primer bundle includes 200 channels, the fastest Internet speeds and unlimited calling. Charter offers bundles for customers with two and three services. Bundles with two services include basic television and express Internet, express Internet and unlimited calling, and digital television and express Internet. Three service bundles include unlimited calling, either lite or express Internet and basic, digital or high-definition television.
