How to Delete Shows on Verizon FiOS

by Maya Austen, Demand Media

Verizon FiOS is a fiber-optic cable service that offers digital phone, high-speed Internet and cable TV service to select regions throughout the United States. FiOS is as of June 2011 available in 12 states, plus the District of Columbia. As a FiOS TV customer, you can choose to include DVR service to your FiOS TV plan. In addition to other features, the DVR allows you to quickly and easily create digital quality recordings of live and future program broadcasts. DVRs have a limited recording capacity however. Old show recordings eventually need to be deleted to make room for new recordings.

Step 1

Turn on the TV and FiOS DVR.

Step 2

Press "Menu" on the FiOS remote control. Use the remote's arrow buttons to highlight "DVR." Press "OK" to open the DVR menu. The DVR menu can also be opened by simply pressing "DVR" on the FiOS remote.

Step 3

Highlight and select "Recorded Programs" from the DVR menu.

Step 4

Use the remote's arrow buttons to scroll through the list of recorded shows. Highlight and select a show that you would like to delete. Click "Remove This" to delete the show. Repeat this to delete another show from the recorded programs list.

Tips & Warnings

  • When the memory capacity of the FiOS DVR reaches its recording space limit, the DVR will automatically begin systematically deleting the oldest saved shows to make room for new recordings.
