How to Lower My Verizon Bill

by Chang Lin, Demand Media

If you are concerned with your monthly budget, consider reducing your Verizon bill. Verizon FiOS is a communication company that provides users with Internet, telephone and cable TV service. Piling up these services can leave you with a large monthly bill. Before you consider canceling your Verizon account, try lowering your bill with a few cost-cutting options.

Step 1

Research and compare the prices of Verizon services compared to other communication companies that offer the same services. If you find a service or bundle that is similar in specifications and features, ask for a price match from your Verizon sales representative.

Step 2

Bundle your telephone, Internet and television services. Visit the Verizon FiOs website (see Resources) and browse through the different types of bundles until you find the one that fits your lifestyle. You can also click the "Start Building" button on the bottom of the page to create your own bundle.

Step 3

Call the Verizon customer service sales department at 1-800-Verizon (1-800-837-4966) and request speak with a Verizon sales representative. Threaten to cancel or leave Verizon if your monthly bill is not lowered. If you always pay your bill on time or have been a Verizon customer for a long time, point this out. Verizon will most likely offer a special promotional deal or offer to lower your monthly bill.

Step 4

Evaluate your viewing habits and reduce the amount of channels in your television package. If you only watch two or three sports channels when you subscribe to over 20, consider paring down your service. If you have a movie channel bundle, consider paying less than $10 for a Netflix monthly subscription instead of paying over $30 for movie channel services from Verizon. You can also watch television shows and movies at no cost using SurftheChannel.com, Hulu.com or QuickSilverScreen.com. These channels are completely legal and are free because of advertisement supports.
