A Dish Digital Video Recorder records your favorite movies and shows and converts them into a digital format that is stored on the DVR's internal hard drive or an external storage device. To connect a Dish DVR to a cable service, you must have a coaxial cable to transmit the cable television signals. Coaxial cables are generally installed by your cable service provider and make it easy to obtain a cable signal in a few minutes.
Step 1
Connect the coaxial cable from the wall to the "COAX IN" port on the back of your Dish DVR. Fasten the cable to the jack by turning the nut clockwise.
Step 2
Connect the audio composite cable from the DVR to the television set. The audio composite cables are color coded with white and red. The white and red jacks on the back of your DVR device and television set should also match the color on each cable. Match the colored cables with the correct color port and plug them in.
Step 3
Connect the video composite cable into the appropriate-colored jack on the back of your DVR and television set. The video composite cable is generally bundled with the audio composite cables and is color-coded as yellow.
