How to Put in the Dish DVR Remote Codes for Your TV

When your Dish Network installation technician hooks up the satellite system to your home, he should program the remote control so that it controls the TV as well as the DVR. If you buy a new television or you need to replace the remote control, you will need to insert the Dish DVR remote code so that it controls your TV as well as the DVR.

Step 1

Press and release the "Menu" button on the remote control.

Step 2

Press the arrow buttons on the remote to navigate to "Settings." Press "Select."

Step 3

Use the arrow buttons to navigate to "Remote Control." Press "Select."

Step 4

Use the arrow buttons to navigate to "TV Code." Press the "Select" button. Programming options appear on your TV screen.

Step 5

Click "Enter Code."

Step 6

Enter your television's code, which Dish Network provides within a list of codes in the support section of its website. Press "Select." Your TV is set to be used with the Dish DVR remote.
