Receive Comcast HDTV on your Windows Media Center by connecting your set-top cable box to your computer with an high definition television HDTV tuner. An HDTV tuner is a small, rectangular device with an universal serial bus (USB) cable on one end and a coaxial cable port on the other. Your Comcast HDTV set-top box will have an Out coaxial port that is normally connected to your TV with a coaxial cable. To watch HDTV on your computer, the Out coaxial port on the set-top box needs to be connected to your tuner.
Step 1
Plug the USB cable of the external HDTV tuner into an USB port on your computer. If your HDTV tuner came with a CD-ROM, insert it into the CD-ROM drive. You computer will automatically download and begin installing the software. If it doesn't, download and install the tuner driver from the manufacturer's website.
Step 2
Connect one end of the coaxial cable to the Comcast HDTV set-top box or cable wall jack. Connect the other end of the coaxial cable to the cable port on the external HDTV tuner.
Step 3
Install your IR blaster cable TV remote driver software onto your computer. The driver will either be in a CD-ROM or available online for download at the manufacturer's website.
Step 4
Open the "Windows Media Center" program on your computer. Go to "Tasks." Click on the "Settings" tab. Click "TV" and then select, "Set Up TV Signal."
Step 5
Follow the instructions on your screen and finish setting up your HDTV signal. You can now watch your Comcast HDTV on your computer and change the channels or access the menu guide with your IR blaster remote.
