Comcast and Qwest are two nationwide providers of television, Internet and phone service. When comparing service providers, there are several important considerations, such as the service plan options, the quality of the service and the subscription price. To find out which provider is right for your individual needs, it is useful to make a list of priorities when it comes to television, Internet and phone service as well as set a monthly budget.
Overview of Comcast and Qwest
Comcast provides service called XFINITY, which includes digital cable television with On Demand services, Internet, and home phone service featuring unlimited local and long distance plans. Qwest is a service provider of home phone service, high speed Internet service, and is partnered with DIRECTV for television service and Verizon for wireless phone service. Both providers offer a wide variety of service plans, including bundling options if desired.
Television
Comcast television service offers digital cable to your television and online. Customers can also access Comcast On Demand, which contains television and movie programming that you can watch whenever you'd like. There are three different television plans to select from with Comcast, and they increase in price as the plans include more channels. You can also bundle the television with Internet service. Qwest provides access to DIRECTV satellite television; HD programming is available, as is DVR service. There are four different plans from which to select, with prices increasing as the available channels increase. All packages are less expensive when bundled with Qwest Internet service or a local phone plan.
Internet
Comcast offers high-speed Internet plans ranging in price based upon download speed. The least expensive plan provides a download speed of up to 15 Mbps (megabits per second), and the most expensive Internet-only plan has a download speed of up to 20 Mbsp. Qwest offers several high-speed Internet plans, increasing in prices as the download speed increases. The slowest download speed (1.5 Mbps) is the least expensive plan, and there are four more plans, including the 40 Mbps plan, which is the most expensive.
Phone
Comcast offers home phone service with unlimited local and long distance calls, caller ID, voice mail and call waiting services available. Phone service can be bundled with television and Internet service through Comcast. Qwest offers unlimited local and long distance home phone service plans as well as Verizon wireless phone service plans. If you bundle the wireless service with other Qwest products, your plan will be less expensive than if you did not bundle.
