Lingo vs. Comcast

Lingo and Comcast offer various home phone calling plans in different price ranges.

Lingo and Comcast both provide phone service to customers' home phones. Lingo also offers mobile phone service for an additional fee, while Comcast offers Internet service, television service and bundle plans of Internet, television and home phone service. Both Lingo and Comcast provide several plan options for phone service, ranging in price as calling locations and minutes increase.

Lingo Options

Phone plan offerings from Lingo include four options. The least expensive plan includes 250 minutes per month across the United States and to Canada. A 500-minute per month plan is offered for a higher monthly fee, providing 500 minutes throughout the U.S. and to Canada. Lingo also offers unlimited calling within the U.S. and to Canada for a higher monthly fee. The most expensive plan from Lingo is the World Unlimited plan, offering unlimited calling throughout the U.S. and 45 additional countries. Customers may also add mobile phone service to a Lingo plan for an additional monthly fee, as of June 2011.

Comcast Options

Home phone plans from Comcast include a Local with More Plan, in which customers pay a monthly fee for unlimited local calling and five cents per minute for long distance. Comcast's Unlimited plan offers unlimited local and long distance calling within the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico for one monthly fee. Comcast also offers the option to add on worldwide minutes to more than 200 countries for an additional monthly fee. Bundle plans are available, as well, in which customers can bundle phone service with other Comcast offerings, such as Internet and television, for monthly savings.

Lingo Features

Features included with Lingo phone service include access to voice mail from phone, the Internet or email; the ability to give people outside the U.S. a local number to which they can call you and caller ID. Other calling features Lingo provides consist of call forwarding, three-way calling, speed dial, call waiting and directory assistance. Other offerings, such as caller ID block and anonymous call rejection, are also available from Lingo.

Comcast Features

Calling features from Comcast include access to voice mail from your computer or smartphone with the ability to get email notifications of new messages. Other calling features from Comcast consist of caller ID, call waiting, call screening, three-way calling, speed dial, call ID blocking and anonymous call rejection. With caller ID from Comcast, customers can see who is calling on their PC or television, as well as their phone. Customers can select 12 different calling features when they subscribe to a Comcast monthly voice plan.
