About Comcast on Demand

by Melanie Jo Triebel, Demand Media

Many cable television customers are interested in on-demand service, which many cable television providers offer. Comcast's on-demand service, now known as XFINITY TV, offers many programming options and features to Comcast customers.

What Programs Are Available?

XFINITY TV offers movies on demand, including some new releases. It also offers music channels. This on-demand service also includes television programs, including some programs from premium packages, depending upon your subscription package.

What Can It Do?

XFINITY TV can do many things that a traditional DVR can do. It can save programs you select for up to 24 hours, so you can watch them several times, or take a break and finish them later. It can also perform standard playback functions, such as pause, fast forward and rewind.

How Do I Get It?

XFINITY TV now comes with a Comcast digital cable subscription. You can access it on your television, using your cable box, or on a computer with an Internet connection. Check with Comcast before ordering, however, because XFINITY on demand is still unavailable in certain areas.

What Features Are Available?

XFINITY TV can now provide programming in HD and even, in some cases, in 3D. XFINITY TV is available in various packages, which offer different combinations of included and pay programming, and can be purchased in a combination package with other Comcast services, such as internet and telephone service. XFINITY TV also comes with parental controls.
