Time Warner Cable uses a Linksys wireless cable gateway to provide its users with cable Internet service. The device is a cable modem and a four-port router, which allows for wireless and wired Internet connection sent over a coaxial cable. It only takes connecting a few cables to receive broadband Internet access.
Step 1
Plug a coaxial cable into the wall port where your cable Internet service is installed. Plug the other end of the coaxial cable into the "Cable" port located on the rear of the Linksys gateway.
Step 2
Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into "Port 1" on the back of the router. Plug the other end of the cable into a free Ethernet port on your computer.
Step 3
Plug the power supply for the Linksys gateway into the "Power" port on the back of the gateway. Plug the other end into an electrical outlet or a power strip containing a surge protector.
Step 4
Turn on the Linksys gateway using the power switch on the rear of the unit. Wait for the three lights on the front of the gateway to come on indicating a connection with the Internet signal and the PC. The "Power" indicator LED will turn on first, followed by the "Cable Modem -- Cable," which indicates receipt of the cable Internet signal, and then "Link/ACT," showing that your PC is interacting with the gateway.
Step 5
Turn on your PC and launch your Web browser.
