You may not need all the cable TV services you are paying for.

Time Warner Cable offers a wide range of services, including digital cable, high speed Internet, movies on demand and digital home phone. With every service you add, your bill goes up. In some cases, the company draws you in with a great deal or bundle when you first purchase the service. In time, the cable bill creeps up just like most bills. You may not have to keep paying the amount you paid last month.
Research
Before you try to get Time Warner to lower your bill, do some research to find out what deals are available to you in your area. Check with Time Warner to see what deals they are currently offering to new subscribers and with Time Warner's competitors, including satellite companies. Write down the prices for each company available in your area and what that price includes. You can use these prices and package details to your advantage.
Contact Customer Service
When you call the customer service number for Time Warner, you will first talk to a customer service representative. Let the customer service representative know that you can no longer afford to pay the cost of your cable bill. Give the service representative the details on the deals you researched and ask what they can do for you. In some cases, the customer service representative will give you a deal comparable to the ones you found with other companies to keep you as a customer.
Reach Higher
If you reach a customer service representative that claims he cannot help you, ask to speak to a supervisor. Some customer service representatives don't know how or are not authorized to offer a deal. The supervisor should be able to help you lower your bill. If the supervisor cannot help you, keep working your way up the ladder until you reach someone who can help you.
Make Changes
If you do reach the top of the chain and either have not received a discount or are not happy with the amount they offer you, make changes to your package. Evaluate which channels you watch and which ones are not necessary. For instance, the price of movie channels is high and most people only watch them occasionally. It may be cheaper to stick to pay-per-view movies or rentals instead. If there is a high number of channels you don't watch in your particular package, choose one with fewer channels. If all else fails, switch providers to take advantage of their deals instead. You can always switch back to Time Warner when they offer a deal in the future.
