AT&T;, the country's largest purveyor of landline telephone service, also offers U-verse. U-verse is a fiber-optic network that connects your digital television, landline telephone and Internet service through a central "brain" called the Wireless Gateway. This allows you to check your voice mail and control your DVR through your computer or smartphone. You can also watch digitally recorded programming on any television or computer in the house. Though U-verse may seem complicated and potentially expensive, it is possible to save money on its services.

Step 1

Decide which amenities you absolutely must have. Consider how much television you watch, how much time you spend on the phone and how fast of a download speed you need for your Internet usage habits. Navigate to att.com and look at the options.

Step 2

Decide whether you want television, Internet and phone service, or only one or two of those services. Sign up for all of them at once to save money. Look at the special offers on att.com. Occasionally a certain package will be on sale for a limited time.

Step 3

Sign up for the longest term that you know you will use. Read the Terms of Service on U-verse's website and become familiar with the circumstances under which AT&T; will terminate your service or charge you extra fees. Customers who terminate their service early are often subject to a termination fee.

Step 4

Choose a television service package that includes a waived installation fee. The installation can be quite costly, but some U-verse waives it for some packages.

Step 5

Use an Internet search engine to find a third-party coupon for AT&T; U-verse. These coupons can save you a hundred dollars or more on installation and monthly fees.

Step 6

When closing the sale, ask the person helping you if the quoted price is the best deal they can offer. If you're a decent negotiator, attempt to talk them into a lower price.
