Facts on AT&T DSL

AT&T; is the nation's largest provider of wired and wireless broadband Internet service. AT&T; offers several DSL packages, some which bundle DSL Internet capabilities with home phone service. These DSL packages offer broadband Internet with download speeds as high as 6 megabits per second, and all plans come with free basic support services.

Availability

To know whether you are eligible for AT&T; DSL Internet service, you will need to go through an address check, which can be done through AT&T;'s website. AT&T; not only provides DSL Internet to homes throughout much of the United States, but it also provides Wi-Fi through thousands of hotspots that you can access while you are away from home. To check whether your computer is equipped for DSL service from AT&T;, you can download software from their website that will evaluate your computer for the necessary requirements.

DSL Options

There are several options to consider when selecting DSL service from AT&T.; You can add DSL to an existing AT&T; home phone line or subscribe to DSL service without local phone service. You can also choose to upgrade your existing DSL service if you desire. Various DSL plans range in price, depending on download speeds.

Plans

Should you choose to order DSL service without having AT&T; home phone service, you can select from four different plans. The least expensive plans have download speeds ranging from up to 768 Kbps (kilobits per second) to 3.0 Mbps (megabits per second). The most expensive plan boasts a download speed of up to 6.0 Mbps. Prices for the DSL Internet are less if you also get home phone service.

Support

AT&T; offers a variety of DSL service support features through their website. For example, you can find help with sending and receiving email, connection issues, forgotten passwords, setting up a wireless network or repairing your service. AT&T; customers also have the option to chat online with a virtual expert, if needed.
