How to Connect an XBox 360 to AT&T DSL

by Chappy Sinclair, Demand Media

AT&T; DSL is a type of high speed Internet that uses a DSL modem to transmit the Internet signal from AT&T; to your home. You can connect the Xbox 360 to an AT&T; DSL modem using an Ethernet cable. With an Internet-connected Xbox 360, you can access Xbox Live, the official multiplayer match creator and content service for the Xbox 360. A direct Ethernet connection to the AT&T; DSL modem provides the most reliable experience when connected to Xbox Live, since a wired connection does not suffer from the same inconsistencies as a wireless connection.

Step 1

Make sure the Xbox 360 is turned off. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable into the "Ethernet" port on the back of the Xbox 360 and the other end into the "DSL" port on the AT&T; DSL modem.

Step 2

Press the "Power" button to turn on the Xbox 360. Press the "Guide" button on the Xbox 360 controller to turn it on. Scroll to the "My Xbox" tab, select "System Settings" and press the "A" button.

Step 3

Select "Network Settings" and press the "A" button. Select "Test Xbox Live Connection" and press the "A" button. After the test is completed, the Xbox 360 will automatically use these settings when connecting to the AT&T; modem.
