Comcast Internet tiers are the pricing schemes of the company's Internet packages. Each package has a different download speed or a different type of Internet connection for both cable and broadband Internet connections. Some packages have been eliminated and others have been upgraded at the time of publication as Comcast changed its Internet and cable TV services product brand name to Xfinity.
Pricing Tiers
Comcast pricing tiers are separated into programs, each of which provides different download and upload speed rates for different pricing options. Download and upload speeds are measured in megabits. A megabit is a million binary data code pulses per second, which is the form data are sent by computers. Megabits are smaller than Megabytes -- a megabit data transfer speed is equal to 1 million bits, or 1,000 kilobits, and there are 8 megabits in a megabyte, so the higher the megabit rate, the faster your Internet will be.
Economy
The Economy tier of Comcast has a speed of 1.5 megabits per second download and 384 kilobits per second upload. The Economy Plus has a 3 megabits per second download and 768 kilobits per second upload speed. At the time of publication, the Economy Internet Service is priced at $41.95 per month.
Performance
The Performance Starter has a 6 megabits per second download and 1 megabit per second upload speed. The regular Performance tier has a 15 megabits per second download and 2 megabits per second upload speed. At the time of publication, the Performance Starter tier is $49.95 per month and the Performance tier is $59.95 per month.
Blast!
The Blast! tier has a 25 megabits per second download and a 4 megabits per second upload speed. Blast! costs $29.99 for the first six months, and it is $71.95 per month thereafter.
Extreme
The Extereme 50 tier has a 50 megabits per second download and 10 megabits per second upload speed and is a part of the new Xfinity Internet subscription from Comcast. Extreme 50 costs $116.95 per month at the time of publication.
