Qwest and NetZero both provide various DSL Internet service plans. These services are not available in all areas, so interested consumers should check availability in their area before comparing the two providers. Potential customers must enter their address into the Qwest web site to see if Qwest DSL is available in their location. To determine whether NetZero is available in their community, they must enter their home phone number at the NetZero site.
Qwest Plans
Qwest offers five different DSL service plans. The plans' monthly fees increase as the download speed of the plan increase. The least expensive plan is the Ultimate Start-Up plan, which has download speeds up to 1.5 Mbps. The Essential plan offers speeds up to 7 Mbps, the Advanced plan offers speed up to 12 Mbps and the Extreme plan offers speeds up to 20 Mbps. The Qwest Pro Plan, which is the most expensive per month, has speeds up to 40 Mbps.
NetZero Plans
NetZero also provides different DSL service plans that vary in price. The prices of the plans will be available once potential customers enter their home phone numbers into the NetZero website. The prices will vary depending both upon the location of the customer and the download speeds of the plan. According to NetZero, DSL services available in a variety of budget levels and at speeds as fast as 100 times faster than dial-up Internet service.
Qwest Features
Qwest offers numerous features to DSL Internet customers. One feature is Qwest @ Ease, which provides backup space and security for the customer, such as Norton AntiVirus Online. Other features include tech support services and wireless Internet options at home and at thousands of Wi-Fi hotspots across the country.
NetZero Features
Several features are provided with NetZero DSL service, including a modem with firewall. Other features include Norton AntiVirus Online, which helps protect customers' computers from viruses, free technical support, MegaMail service, which is email service with built in spam and virus protection and a pop-up blocker. In addition to these features, DSL customers receive a dial-up account to use as a backup if needed.
